Northaw and Cuffley Neighbourhood Plan
Northaw and Cuffley Parish Council has been designated by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council to lead the development of a Neighbourhood Plan for Northaw and Cuffley covering the whole of the Parish.
A Neighbourhood Plan is a statutory, community-led framework which guides the future sustainable development, community facilities and conservation of an area. It is about the use and development of land and is expected to contain a vision, aims, planning policies, proposals for improving the area, allocation of sites for specific kinds of development and details of how we will spend any Community Infrastructure Levy income.
A Neighbourhood Plan can deal with a wide range of social, economic and environmental issues, such as housing, employment, shops, transport, biodiversity and recreation. These may be issues that are relevant to the whole neighbourhood or just to part of the neighbourhood.
A Neighbourhood Plan will become part of the statutory development plan for the area, if successful in a local referendum. This means that a Neighbourhood Plan has far more weight in decision-making than some other local documents, such as parish plans and community plans.
